A perennial medicinal plant with a height of 0.3 to 2 meters, the stem is hairy. It grows in deserted places, hence the name “hermitwort”. It is widespread in Europe and Asia, Siberia and the Caucasus. The use of the herb is known in ancient Tibetan medicine, it has long been used in Latin America and Europe. In Russia it has been used since the 15th century. In Bulgaria, the herb is used to treat nerves, disorders, anemia, respiratory organs, and its property to ease urination is used.
Composition: a unique composition of essential oils, valuable acids, the strongest vitamins – antioxidants A, E and C, many minerals, sugars, alkaloids, flavonoids /rutin, quercetin/, which strengthen the cardiovascular system, tannins with a bactericidal effect, glycosides that eliminate arrhythmia, reduce the pulse, and phytoncides have an antimicrobial effect.
Use: an important quality of the herb is its calming effect, stronger than the effect of valerian. This makes the herb good for treating nervous disorders, high excitability, insomnia and chronic fatigue. It is also used for epilepsy, paralysis and neuralgia; it is widely used for disorders in the functioning of the heart and blood vessels, lowers high blood pressure, improves the condition of myocarditis and angina, normalizes the heart rhythm. It successfully protects against stress that affects cardiac activity. The herb improves the condition of hyperfunction of the thyroid gland. It is useful for women with disorders during menopause and after menopause, as well as during pregnancy /after consulting a doctor/. It is often used in the treatment of typically “male diseases”. It is known to improve urine output, suitable for the treatment of kidney and urinary tract diseases, external and internal bleeding, normalizes the cholesterol content in the blood, has a positive effect on metabolism. It has a positive effect on stomach and duodenal ulcers; it is recommended for respiratory problems, such as pneumonia, asthma, cough and shortness of breath. It strengthens immunity, slows down the aging of the body. The herb can also be used externally for wounds and damaged skin, as it has an antibacterial effect. It is also used for acne and enlarged pores. For oily hair, rinsing with an extract of the herb is recommended. It can also be used for sweating feet, eliminating the unpleasant odor.
