White Potentilla (root)
Synonyms – five-leafed, five-leafed, etc.
It is known among the people as five-leafed, five-leafed – because of its five-leafed flowers. The botanical name is Potentilla alba. It reaches from 10 to 25 cm aboveground part and a significant underground part – the roots reach 100 cm in length. During the flowering period, it can be taken as a wild strawberry. This beautiful and bitter herb has been used for stomach pain and for rapid recovery from burns.
Both the aboveground part and the roots are valuable. The roots are saturated with tannins, which have an anti-inflammatory effect. They contain starch, iridoids and saponins. The roots contain quercetin – a flavonoid with antioxidant effect. They also contain boron, iron, sodium, aluminum, calcium, silver, chromium, cobalt, manganese, selenium, barium, copper and lithium, which are contained several times more than ordinary herbs.
The herb has a positive effect on the endocrine system and in the treatment of the thyroid gland. It is used for thyrotoxicosis, thyroid hyperplasia, goiter. Thyroid gland – the herb normalizes hormonal balance and regulates many functions in the body. It supports the gastrointestinal tract, cardiovascular system. It has a beneficial effect on stomach ulcers, enterocolitis, liver problems. With the help of the herb, stomach distension, colic quickly passes. It is also used as a natural antibiotic, relieves bruises and hematomas, open wounds and abscesses. For this purpose, the herb is brought to a powdery state. It is contraindicated in hypothyroidism.

Recipes
Used for joint inflammation, radiculitis and osteochondrosis
6 g of ground root is poured with 200 g of warmed oil or lard, boiled at a low boil for 7 minutes, then strained; the sore spots are rubbed or compresses are made.
50 g of root powder is poured with 100 g of vodka, the mixture is left for up to 1 month in a dark and cool place, shaking periodically, and after the end of the period it is strained; take 30 drops 3 times a day 20 minutes before meals. The course is done for 1 month, then interrupted for a period of 7 days, after which it can be repeated.
1 tbsp. spoon of root powder is poured with 1 cup of lukewarm boiled water and left for 3 hours; then brought to a boil and poured into a thermos for 10 hours and shaken; strained and brought to the original volume with warm boiled water. Take 1/3 cup three times a day; drink according to the following scheme: drink one day, then take a two-day break, and so the scheme continues for 15 days. After this period, drink every other day for the next 15 days, and take every day for the next 15 days.
Decoction (infusion) – on the first day, make an infusion of 1 tsp. powdered root with 1 tsp. boiling water and leave for 10 hours, strain and drink in equal portions three times a day. On the second day, make an infusion of 2 tsp. On the 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th day, take an infusion of 3, 4, 5, 6 tsp. root, respectively. Then make the infusion in the reverse order – 6, 5, 4, 3. Take a break for a month and can be repeated.
Decoction – 3 tbsp. chopped root is poured with 2 tsp. water in an enamel pot; heat to boiling and boil for 5 minutes on low heat, let stand for 4 hours and strain. Take 1 tbsp. five times a day on the first day. The second day – 2 tbsp. five times a day, the third day – 3 tbsp. five times a day, the fourth day – 4 tbsp. five times a day, then take a break for three days and repeat the course. Duration of the course – 1 month.
General recipe – 10 g of root is poured with 0.5 l of water; heat to boiling and boil for 10 minutes on low heat; leave for 1 hour and strain. Take 2 tbsp. 3-4 times a day before x
